March 2015 TCWT Blog Chain

Well, Howdy y'all!

Again I am beyond mesmerized at how fast the sixteenth crept up on me. Honestly speaking though, I am truly disappointed at how every month I manage to be unprepared for the blog chain. Oh well, there's always next month, you know what they say, if at first you don't succeed try, try again; except well in my case if at sixth you don't succeed...

But for now, to the prompt of the month!

“What are your thoughts on reading or writing books in non-novel formats? Are there any you’ve particularly enjoyed?”

Well I have to say, I did not have a lot to go on, considering I can only say I have read only two non-novel format books; A Raisin in the Sun which, I absolutely adored, in fact adored is probably an understatement. Finished it in just under a few hours. In fact when I went thrift book shopping last year, the book was just staring at me, like it was just waiting for me. Well, if only that particular copy had a mouth on it to call out to me because it would probably be sitting pretty on my shelf. Long story short, I conceded defeat to an individual who looked to appreciate a good piece of work, of course I did not go down without a fight, that is if asking politely,"Are you going to buy that?" and shrugging in disappointment as she confirmed my then deepest fear is considered a fight. At least it found a home while I walk the mean streets, with my eyes pealed, because maybe, just, maybe there is a copy out there with my name on it.

The second one was An Enemy of the People which was a course reader while in high school. So I will be honest enough to say that it took me a couple of months and reading and re-reading this book for me to understand what it was going on about. To be exact, reading the book a good three times, because well, you know, the third time is a charm...NOT! watching the movie with the book, watching the movie without the book and finally watching the play. No animals were harmed in a bid to understand this book.

Until I came across this question, I never really had any thoughts about this genre of books but now, my eyes have been opened, opened wide. I am pretty eager to find out if there are any books that are non-novel-esque. Come to think of it, it would be kind of like an adventure, I'm Alice and books in the non-novel formats are my Wonderland (hey, it was either that or I'd use the next best euphemism, Dora the Explorer anyone?)
